The artwork you see here is and exceptional linocut print made in 2022 by an ambidextrous Artist, Art enthusiast, archivist, antiquarian, a seasoned Art educator and hybrid Nigerian/African printmaking artist TOSIN OYENIYI. My prints being sold/shipped out of Boise, Idaho by Tom Callos, my friend OR through DHL out of Ibadan, Nigeria, where the Artist based (delivery made within 5-7 working days of order) to anywhere in the world. Depending on which artwork you order, I have some prints in his custody while some are with me. This print is on linen canvas, printed with offset ink, hand made and signed, This particular print, like most all of my prints, is very unique because my technique is against the conventional theories and practices out there, my practice gives particular attention to perfect registration and toner polychromatic graduation while deliberately creating horizontal lines all-over. It explores the beauty of chiaroscuro and aerial perspective while facial contours are colourfully mapped-out with divisive lines; a technique-combination which is still largely overlooked by printmakers. I have not seen anyone combine the set of techniques I use because they are largely self-taught and I say that with every sense of humility. Basically, I take pride in producing time-consuming Artworks for there-in lies its beauty and uniqueness. It may require you to visit my studio to catch a glimpse on how I produce my prints. Let me also say that my artistic practice is explicitly informed by the metaphors that leans on the interlocks of love, nature, culture, traditions, rites and on such virtues as braveness, humility, dignity, patience and industry. It would also suffice to say that my Art covers such aspects as: nature, still life, portraiture, landscape, seascape, abstract, etc. Through my art, I am unrepentantly determined to give beauty to the sight; heal emotional and psychological wounds; emphasize love; preach peaceful co-existence; highlight societal ills and injustices; advocate for the teeming poor; unite families and bind lesions. My works also deliberately mirrors and reflects the unpalatable plights of the poor, the predicaments of a typical African woman, the quagmire of the many out-of-school children and the frustration of the teeming homeless. Professionally, I have been practicing my art since 2015 and currently resides in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria where I produce irresistible prints that are in circulation all over the world through local and international Art collectors.
