My Stampin' Up! demonstrator was kind enough to drop off my Curvy Keepsake Box Framelits before the storm hit so my boys and I had a great time making these boxes. After I saw this blog post, I knew I had to get them - just to make those little Pikachu boxes. My kids are on this Pokemon craze and I thought it would make the cutest Valentines... though not sure I want to make 75 of them! But I could make and have them send it to some of their cousins... So can you identify them? Some of just generic (like brown bear and panda) but did you recognize Chip and Dale? Or Mike from Monsters Inc? Which is your favorite? Mine is Winnie the Pooh. I showed some of the first ones I made to my nieces and they gave me even more ideas. Have you heard of Tsums Tsums? Me neither but now the possibilites...
General education teachers know their students, but IEP Input can be tricky. Our Teacher IEP Input Forms and Questionnaires provide structure and support, so they can provide the most useful information for a strengths-based Present Level of Performance. These surveys are specifically structured to help you use teacher input to quickly identify strengths, goals, and accommodations across all of the areas in an IEP! Whether it’s for a student with only consult services, or one you know incredibly well, these forms will help you gather and organize the information you need to create a comprehensive IEP. How to Use: As a Special Education Coordinator, I often wrote IEPs for students I rarely observed in General Education. I used these forms to get their input without having to schedule a meeting. 1. Select the pages that are appropriate for the student’s IEP. You can share all of the pages, or you can share just a few relevant inventories. Your options include: Academic Inventory Social/Emotional Inventory Behavior Inventory Independent Functioning Inventory Communication Inventory Student Information (strengths, interests, preferences, grades, etc.) 2. Complete these forms yourself or share then digitally or in print with the teachers who serve your student. Make sure to give them ample time to complete the forms, as there is a lot of needed information. 3. Collect the complete forms from teachers and identify the student's strengths and needs to write rich descriptions of the students’ current performance. You will notice that all questions are stated positively, so you can quickly glance for check boxes marked “no” to identify possible areas for support. Use the list of skills marked "no" to identify possible goals and accommodations needed. Teachers are also asked to prioritize any concerns, helping you quickly include how the student is impacted by their disability. This can help you identify if any additional data is needed to determine appropriate accommodations, goals, and/or services. How will using these forms make writing IEPs faster and easier? Jump right into the information. Don’t waste time asking yourself “where do I start with this student?” Move through the inventories to outline the strengths and weaknesses in each domain quickly. Make sure you’re covering all of the domains. Using an organized inventory will means you don’t have to stress about leaving anything out. Ensure you include several positives and strengths about the student. IEPs have to address the needs of the student, which can make it easy to get bogged down in what the student can’t do. These inventories are designed to also help you quickly identify strengths, so you can include all the things your students excel at in their IEPs. What You Get: 6 Pages of Specific Skills Inventory Student General Information (Strengths, Interests, Preferences, Grades, etc.) Social and Emotional Skills Inventory Independent Functioning Skills Inventory Communication Skills Inventory Academic Skills Inventory Behavior Inventory Every form comes in a fillable PDF as well as a printable form for teachers who prefer to hand write their IEP input. This fun environmental print activity is used in September to jump start our reading. Most of my kindergarten students say "I can't read!" And I prove them wrong with this environmental print project. It gives them the confidence to understand that letters come together to make words and that you can be a good reader by looking at the picture or symbol that goes along with the word to figure it out. These are environmental words/symbols they have seen and are usually familiar with. They CAN read!!! Environmental Print Parent Letter I send home a parent letter (click here for free download) asking for examples of environmental print. We use these to make a chart to use in our classroom. We talk about the beginning sounds of these words, how many letters they have, and practice sorting them by color, beginning letter, places/food/toys, etc. Students cut out their own environmental print pictures and practice reading/sorting them independently. They talk to friends to tell how they sorted the pictures. Then we make an environmental print student reader. Students pick the environmental print cards they want to glue onto their paper and use writing skills to write "I can read" and glue the environmental print picture into the box provided. This activity is great for working on the sight word can! Then, students find a friend to "buddy read" their sentences to. They loved this activity! Click here to download

Are you looking for an engaging activity to help students learn to manage their emotions? Use this lesson and hands-on activity to help kids learn strategies for managing their feelings and developing self-regulation skills. This is something that all learners need! Kids and young adults will identify emotions and coping strategies to help them manage those emotions. Then, they will put together a wheel craft that helps them identify their emotions and strategies on the spot. This craft includes over 20 unique coping strategies and 12 emotions for kids and young adults to choose from. Students can also make their own. Why Teach How to Manage Emotions Everyone experiences the ups and downs of emotions throughout the day or week. Teaching kids and young adults how to manage their emotions can help them cope with challenging feelings, including anger, sadness, frustration, worry, and more. The goal is that kids can learn to cope with those feelings by using healthy coping strategies in moments of stress. How to Use First, students will complete a worksheet that explains what it means to manage our emotions. Then, you can choose three different options for students to complete. Note that detailed student directions with photos are included for all three versions: Individualized Version - Students make their own wheels by cutting and pasting in their individualized strategies and emotions. Pre-Made Version - Students put together pre-made wheels that are already set up for them. This is a time-saving option with less cutting and gluing. They can still choose between different wheels that are already created. Blank Version - Students can make their own wheels by writing and coloring in their own emotions and strategies. This is a helpful option if you work with a student with completely individualized needs and strategies. Students will color, cut out, and put their wheels together. Let students practice understanding their emotions and strategies by playing with their wheels in partners or groups. Encourage students to read each others’ coping strategies and even practice them, when appropriate. This can be a great activity in small groups to discuss strategies and identify what works best for each individual student. Managing Emotions Lesson Included This activity isn't just a craft, but also a meaningful lesson on managing emotions. The student worksheet starts kids off understanding what it means to manage emotions and why it is an important social-emotional skill we all need. Coping Skills Tool for the Future! Best of all, kids can keep their Managing My Emotions Wheel for times when they need extra support. They can use it to help them pick a coping strategy when they are feeling anxious, stressed, sad, or angry. Math Station Accountability Sheets! 2 different templates (one with a star and one with a heart so that you can easily identify from week to week) that you can change out each week. This gives students the ability to show what they learned in station work and reflect on their weekly goal. The sheets have many questions for the students to think through or show their work. Some examples are: Write one new thing you learned in math today Write one math vocabulary word and definition, then draw it Show your work with your toughest problem from today Write something you want to learn more about in math Friday- It is always a "check in" math day. Students can check the box to see if they have met their goal. In our classroom, students check to see if they completed their dreambox lessons for the week. It also has a space for students to write what they are still struggling with so that you can pull small math groups.
