Midcentury French ceramic vase in a stunning turquoise color. Handcrafted and beautifully glazed. This is a signed piece, however, we have not been able to identify the name of the ceramic artist. Made in the style of Accolay ceramics, Accolay was founded by four young artists: André Boutaud, Louis Dangon, Slavic Paley and Raude. As the story goes, the friends left Paris in order to escape forced labor under the German Occupation in 1944. They started with making ceramic buttons for their own use. ... In 1948 fashion was changing and they started making useful ceramics, decorative ornamental pieces, photo frames, fruit baskets and small ceramic sculptures. In 1952 a Canadian designer became a member of the group. This lovely decorative object will enhance any table, shelf or countertop. Perfect condition, no cracks or chips. Measures: 8 5/8 in. high x 6 1/4 in. diameter.
