The Bible is littered with place names. Some of them were centers of ancient power and trade. Rome, for example, was the center of one of the most powerful and ruthless empires to ever exist on Earth, and the city itself still stands today. Other places, such as Abez, were small towns or villages that have since been destroyed. Biblical places hold a special place in the hearts of many people. The places in the Bible are where human history was made and life changed forever. Christians and Jews grew up reading and hearing the names of the towns and cities in Israel where the Israelites battled their various enemies. Unfortunately, many of these places have been lost. Battles and wars claimed some of the smaller towns and cities, while the passage of time whittled away at many of the rest. Thankfully, archaeology has reclaimed some of these lost settlements while others withstood the test of time all on their own. While cities that survived on their own merits will have a very different feel than those that human hands determinedly reclaimed from nature, both are well worth visiting. Here are seven Biblical places you can still visit today.
