L’époque où on montait à dos d’éléphants et où on allait faire du bénévolat dans une nurserie pour tortues est bel et bien révolue. Des recherches ont en effet révélé que derrière ces activités touristiques, certes bien intentionnées et en plein essor il y a encore dix ans, se dissimulaient souvent en réalité de mauvaises pratiques et/ou des retombées minimes sur le plan scientifique. Fort heureusement, nombre de tour-opérateurs et de projets de conservation ont amélioré leurs politiques et ne proposent plus ce type d’expériences. Pour autant, la tendance actuelle au greenwashing, qui consiste à faire croire à l’aide d’allégations mensongères qu’un circuit ou un produit est plus éthique qu’il n’y paraît, complique la donne lorsqu’il s’agit de faire les bons choix.
