This is a lesson I use in my Introduction to Fashion Design Class. In this lesson, students learn about the history of the tee shirt as well as how to draw a sketch (not a technical flat) of a t-shirt. They then design a tee shirt collection (minimum of three designs) and draw their t-shirts on croquis which then are assembled on a design board. Included in this purchase: 1. Google Slideshow (fully editable). Slideshow includes links to various resources and a tutorial on sketching a t-shirt. There is also a YouTube video (TedEd) embedded in the slideshow that presents the way a tee is produced. 2. Google doc student note catcher that corresponds to Day 1. This should be printed as students are asked to sketch on it. 3. Project Description / rough draft Google doc of the t-shirt collection project. 4. A printable PDF of t-shirt thumbnails for students to complete their initial sketches (rough draft). 5. Lesson notes. 6. Single Point Rubric for student & teacher assessments. 7. OPTIONAL - in my class we create our designs using a Cricut machine. If you have access to a Cricut machine and wish to do the same with your students there is a design spec sheet I have students complete. Activity Breakdown: 1. T-shirt thumbnails 6. Work time- design board 7. Gallery walk + self-assessment Note: Depending on how long your class periods are, this lesson will need to be taught over the course of several days. Once the project is introduced, students will need additional in-class work time. As such, this is a project that may need up to two weeks for completion.
