A Finnish soldier with his war dog at the Field base "Ölkky" in the Luvajärvi village, June 25, 1944. War dogs saved a lot of soldiers lives during the Winter- and Continuation War, because the dogs were able to sense the enemy much earlier than any human could. Most of the war dogs that fought in the Finnish wars sacrificed their lives for the fatherland but many of them also survived, more or less disturbed. [sa-kuva]
