A beautiful Edwardian lingerie summer dress dating from circa 1908 The dress is made of extremily fine cotton lawn which has been shaped with pleats, tucks and lace inserts. Unusually the drsss has a wide open neckline. The sleeves are slightly gathered at the shoulders and very fitted down to the ruffled cuffs at the wrists. The dress fastens down the centre back with buttons. The waistline is very fitted and the skirt fullness flares out from smooths tucks at the hips to a very full hem. A very beautiful example of a Edwardian summer dress the lace inserts and ruffles are just so pretty and delicate. Appropriate measurements Bust 34 inches Waist 25 inches Length 50 inches CONDITION The dress is showing sighs of age related wear. There are lots of small holes, tears and old mends due to the fabric being extremely fine and lightweight. Many of the buttons and loops down the back opening are broken or missing. There are some large holes in the skirt and around the arms and wrists. Some of the fabric has some mild staining and discolouration. There is a smell of perfume to the dress which may come out with a good soak. The dress could be worn with care but is not subtle for long term wear.
