At Paper Popinjay, we search for unloved antique and vintage books, and bring their beautiful illustrations out into the open! This is an original antique (1850s) chromolithograph by Owen Jones, which has been taken from a disbound copy of "The Grammar of Ornament". It is an amazingly detailed illustration of fine ornament, and is very much in the art and crafts style of the time. Carefully observed cultural patterns are arranged elegantly on the page in bold, lustrous colours, producing something really special. This is a high quality lithograph, presented on thick cream paper. It would look beautiful mounted and framed on its own, or partnered with another of our antique Owen Jones or Racinets. The Prints are approximately 22 cm x 33 cm. As with all items of this age, there may be some slight characteristic foxing, marking etc... but the condition of this one is good, and the image is clear and bright. Your picture will be carefully packaged in a large cardboard tube. All prints, whether antique, vintage or modern should be protected from exposure to direct sunlight. Please look at our other prints and upcycled books, or feel free to ask if you have something special that you are looking for - we are happy to help!
