In 1928 Alois Scheurich and Fridolin Greulich establish a wholesale business for glass and porcelain - “Scheurich and Greulich” (S&G). The success of S&G allowed Alois Scheurich to establish his own ceramics factory in Kleinheubach in 1954 and commences production of ceramics with the first electrical tunnel kiln. In 1956 animal figures with built-in clocks were highly popular gift and decoration articles. Strong colors and lava-type glazes were typical for 1970’s. The Scheurich company became one of the largest manufacturers of ceramics in Germany from the 1950s to the 1980s. They exported more than any other ceramic company in Germany. Some lines were specifically produced for foreign markets, such as the ‘Europline’ and mould designs marked ‘foreign’. The company continue to work this day, ceramic plant pots are found in many UK garden centres.
