United States hooker Joe Taufete'e is a surprise inclusion on the shortlist for World Rugby's Player of the Year award. Taufete'e is the most prolific try-scorer in international history by a front-row forward. His hat trick against Uruguay in March took him to 18 tries in 21 in tests to beat the record held by Ireland's Keith Wood. Also on the shortlist are England flanker Tom Curry, South Africans Cheslin Kolbe and Pieter-Steph du Toit, Wales' Alun Wyn Jones and New Zealand's Ardie Savea.
