American Bison bull (Bison bison) in Theodore Roosevelt National Park near Medora, North Dakota coming right at you. This impressive individual got to within ten feet of the car I was photographing from. The American Bison wild population is estimated at around 30,000 today. The massive herds first found by Lewis and Clark in the early 1800's can only be seen in old west art and photographs. Today, the wild bison are seen in wilderness oasis's of the western United States National Parks and Forests. I blogged about this photo and other wildlife here, Wildlife Bucket List.
