The Mauryan Empire extended from 324 BC to 185 BC. It was one of the greatest empires, to be originated in Magadha region.
The spy system was an integral part of the Administration of Mauryan Empire. The goals of the secret service was to test the integrity of government officials, spy on cartels and population for conspiracy, to monitor hostile kingdoms, to destabilize enemy states, to get rid of troublesome powerful people who could not be challenged openly.
In this Maurya and Gupta Empires of Ancient India student activity, students will work as research fact-checkers to learn about the empires of Ancient India. Each student will receive a list of data regarding the Mauryan (Maurya) and Gupta empires of Ancient India. Students then will closely examine their text to find the errors! Errors must be corrected while correct facts need to be confirmed! This Ancient India lesson is included in the Ancient India Unit bundle located here! Students should use the included web links or current textbook materials with this lesson. This works well as a webquest as well an alternate to the textbook. I use our class textbook, so if you have a basic textbook that covers this topic you should be in great shape. This resource includes a paper in-class version and a 1:1 Google compatible version to be used in conjunction with Google Classroom. Just follow the included instructions for how to access the Google version, then share the resource through Google or assign via Google Classroom.
