Over the past few days, there has been alot of snow falling here in the Prescott area. Summer and I spent the day yesterday, driving around scouting out a few locations for pictures. The above image was taken in the Granite Dells area. We hiked in about 50 yards from the road and I saw this wonderful idea for a shot. I'm actually up on top of one the granite boulders and my tripod set up fairly low to the ground. I liked the forground interest in this one because of the slowely melting snow you can see in the bottom center of the image. We stayed in this area for about 15 minutes and the snow was melting pretty fast in this area. I couldn't tell while I was there, but once I got home and looked through my pictures, I saw the melting snow. Pretty interesting I thought. Also, I was having to shoot pretty much directly into the sun in this one. Making it hard to expose for the close forground and the distant granite peak. I was lucky to have a nice fluffy cloud pass over at just the right time to allow for a decent exposure without blowing highlights, and keeping detail in the distant peak. I also forgot to bring my ND/GND filters. O well, I'll know better next time. EDIT - Explore #391
