Handcrafted Wood Shower Stool This stunning shower stool has been handcrafted by master woodworker, Jack Haring, in his studio, south of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Simply stated, it is a work of Art! The shower stool has a convenient removable lower shelf for storage. It’s unique design of a curved seat ensures comfortable seating. It has been designed to bring stability to even larger people as well as the infirm. The weight limit is 400 lbs. Makes a perfect gift. These shower stools are made of “CHOCOLATE ASH”, a thermally modified white ash developed in Europe as a green alternative to rainforest woods such a teak which is typically used for shower stools. It is kiln dried at 250 degrees above combustion in a vacuum which changes the makeup of the wood and turns it that rich dark blackish brown color throughout. This process make the wood essentially waterproof. It will not expand and contract according to moisture content like normal wood. Teak wood relies on oil content to minimize expansion and contraction but is becoming an endangered species of wood. Construction of these stools uses stainless steel screws and waterproof glue. Each stool comes with a simple oil finish that will loose its glossiness soon but not its luster. To restore glossiness just wipe on any type of oil finish, but it is not necessary. This classic shower stool measures 22 1/2“ long, 13” wide and 19” high. It weighs 20 lbs and is hand packed and shipped with care.
