“She remembered, as every sensible person does, that you should never never shut yourself up in a wardrobe.” ― C.S. Lewis, The Chronicles of Narnia I am so thrilled to share the third, in a series of Family Learning Literature Guides that I am creating. As a busy mom of three I understand how challenging it is to teach to multiple age groups and learning styles. This year as I have homeschooled, I have introduced an approach that brings together learning experiences based upon a common theme. This Unit, inspired by the world of CS Lewis, is a one month long unit study with 100 pages of Magic, including: full color watercolors, thoughtful activities for each chapter, art tutorials, copy work, penny whistle music, creative writing, winter nature projects and science activities, handwork, cooking and more! It will breathe fresh air and magic into your home schooling experience. The target age is 6-11, but suggestions for each day will be included to tailor the experience towards families who have younger or older children (or both!). 95 pages * this item will be emailed to you Reviews of the Hobbit Set I created last year: "We purchased the print version of the Hobbit learning guide and it has been so much fun to use with my kids! My husband and I are huge Tolkien fans and when I saw that HearthMagic had put this guide out, I knew we would use it to help bring the love of Middle Earth to our 5 kids. It hasn't disappointed. There is so much in the guide that wonderfully builds on each chapter of The Hobbit, from recipes to go with the wonderful food descriptions in the book, to craft projects (wool felting spiders!), art projects, games, and so much more. Great resource!" "My family thoroughly enjoyed the Hobbit set! I homeschool my daughters, ages 8, 7, and 3. They are on the younger end of the scale, and I actually had not planned to read The Hobbit with them yet. However, with this guide, we really enjoyed wandering through the world of Bilbo and his adventures. The guide is well-organized and varied in its suggestions for activities and extensions. There is inspiration and information and recipes. I think we will pull it out again next year because we didn't even get to all of the activities and as any fan of The Hobbit knows, you can't just read it once! My family is looking forward to more literature-based guides by Amber! "
