Compared to metal pots, which heat up and cool down easily, earthenware pots slowly transfer heat. It brings out the natural sweetness of the rice and makes each grain fluffy. This is a beautiful platter. The plate is the shape of a vase with on one side a lighter brown with some dark added, in between a clear with black swirls lines and on the other side a darker brown with some lighter added. In the middle is a small flat area where it sits, the sides slope up at an angle. This bowl or plate fits in a 14 inch round with almost a 2 inch drop. (34,5 and 5 cm) Handmade at the ArtGlass Studio of Caroline4art. Lead free and food safe ***************************** All my pieces are unique handmade products. I make them in my home studio. Each piece is made with several layers of glass. The glass is then fused together in a kiln and annealed (= cooled at a low rate to ensure settling of the molecules, which in turn gives durability and strength to the glass). To get the desired look they may be shaped, grinded or cut and heated again to get the desired style. Each piece is individually made. With similar glass and patterns I can try to make similar designs, but there will always be differences. I love that! Sometimes bubbles occur in the glass. This is due to tiny bits of air that are trapped between two layers of glass. Even though it wasn’t part of the original design, it usually enhances it. It’s as if it creates another dimension…….
