The transformation of King's Cross station represents a compelling piece of placemaking. Originally constructed in 1852, the redevelopment led by John McAslan + Partners in close collaboration with numerous stakeholders has integrated the requirements of a 21st-century international multi-modal transport hub within the Grade 1-listed building’s structure, now equipped to handle the estimated 55 million passengers passing through each year by 2020. Opened to the public in March 2012, in advance of the 2012 London Olympics, King’s Cross Station is now an iconic architectural gateway to the capital.
