“Sweet Slumberling “ ( CURRENTLY ON SALE for limited time ) “Sweet Slumberling “ is a steel sculpture created by Scott Wilkes by welding over a thousand small steel rods and discs together as well as steel plates. She stands 35” tall x 19” wide x 12” deep and weighs 38 pounds. She is mounted on a steel plate so she can stand with grace. She is sealed so she will not rust but is meant for indoor placement . To me the artist : The slumberling is a made up word that speaks to the visitors I have in my dreams that are something other than human… they are Slumberlings.. This is a representation of of a sweet slumberling that visits my dreams often. She is made of ribbons of different energies that are woven into the form of a woman and moves like a brilliant dancer. The patterning looks almost celtic yet not and her existence seems ancient. Her being seems multidimensional and her surface is not all on one plane. In my dreams she comunicates through her body language and motion, and in a dream world that makes sense to me. Being narcoleptic , my dream state is extremly vivid and many of the apperations visit me many times though many dreams and they feel like friends,, well most do,, there are some dark ones as well. The sweet slumbering tends to visit when I am stressed and her being soothes me as I watch the fantastic fluid way she moves and the way her energies flow. She is always a welcome guest in my night worlds.
