In Japan these women were priests, soothsayers, magicians, prophets and shamans in the folk religion, and they were the chief performers in organized Shintoism. These women were called Miko. The red Hakama (loose trousers or slightly pleated skirt) and white haori has been traditional for the miko and is still worn today. It is also featured in animes. comes with: -white kimono top, with the red detailing (done with 3/4 inch red twill ribbon) -red hakama pants Required: chest, waist, hip, outseam (from waist to where you want the hakama to end) length from back to wrist (from spine to wrist, with arm held out straight) Outfit is made from either broadcloth or a heavier sateen (fabrics that were traditionally used were/are a stiff silk or a heavy cotton). The kimono is lined. If you need any help with these measurements, let me know. Contact me if you're interested in other variations/colors. Men, I have done the male versions of this as well (male version has a higher panel at the back) Oh, and did I mention that the hakama pants now have pockets? ****IMPORTANT**** If you have an allergy to cats please let me know! My cat, October, likes to "help" me when I sew. I do lintroll everything prior to sending out but if you need the fabric and items to be totally cat free, please, let me know!
