There are alternatives, like rubber cement or tacky glue, but we highly advise a hot glue gun because it dries fast and holds strong. But not just any hot glue gun. Get one with a precision tip and you’ll make your life a whole lot easier. You can get a quality glue gun with a tiny tip on Amazon for $10-$15 and, trust me, it’s well worth the investment. Use This Hack to Cut Near-Perfect Soles Every Time Cleanly cutting thick (6mm) craft foam with scissors can be a challenge, and jagged edges on soles will make the shoes look all wrong. Fortunately, you can use this easy hack to cut near-perfect soles with a hot knife. Just take the cardboard sole you’ve cut out with scissors and use that as a guide for the hot knife. Using the cardboard makes it much easier to keep the knife straight up and down for a clean cut and even edge.
