This is a fun reading center activity that is great to use with a HickoryDickory Dock or nursery rhyme thematic unit. Students draw a card and color that letter on game board or dot it with a bingo dauber. You could also have them cover it with a counter so that the game board could be reused. This is great as a whole group, center, or small group activity. It is also easy to send home for extra practice and is easy to differentiate with different game boards. I have included uppercase letter cards and three versions of the board: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and upper and lowercase letters. To set up: Print and laminate cards. Print game board of your choice. To play: Students will work alone or with a partner to draw a card and cover or color in the corresponding letter on their game board. They can use a sand timer to see how many letters they can match before time is up, compete with other students or teams, or just work at their own pace during centers. For students working on mastering their uppercase letters, I have them draw the uppercase letter card and find it on the uppercase letter board. Students beginning to work on lowercase letters often do best with the upper and lowercase letter board because it provides the support of still showing uppercase letters. Students who know several lowercase letters can draw an uppercase letter card and color in the corresponding lowercase letter on the lowercase letter game board.
