✨Did you know that scissor skills are a precursor for writing???? ✨ In order for our learners to become great writers we MUST build their hand strength (fine motor) skills 👉 F I R S T!!!!! Here are some tips to set them up for success: ✂️ Sit upright with feet on the floor, elbow at their side (a strong base is important for fine motor development) ✂️Teach them to hold the scissors correctly (sing song to encourage the placement of the fingers and thumb) ✂️ Practice little snips first to build finger and thumb strength and control ✂️ Then move onto lines, then shapes once they have mastered the ability to stabilize the paper while cutting Some of our learners will pick this up quickly and some on the other hand will need more time to practice building their hand strength and that is ok.
