If you've been reading The Conversation lately, you probably know that in the past few weeks, anti-feminist Tumblr account Women Against Feminism, has gone from zero to the Today show. On the Tumblr, disillusioned women hold up signs proclaiming "I Don't Need Feminism" for a grab bag of reasons: As Tanya mentioned in her post earlier this week, some women feel that feminists judge their personal aspirations, like wanting to be a stay-at-home mom or, alternatively, wanting a job—not a 60-hour-a-week career. Others claim feminism demonizes men and attacks the family-values culture. There's also some one-off explanations tucked in there, like: "I love to be in the kitchen!" and "I like to be treated like a lady" and my favorite "It is a crock of shit!" The picture of a feminist portrayed by this blog and its corresponding hashtag, #IDontNeedFeminism, which is going viral on Twitter, is that of a man-bashing, kid-hating, career-obsessed, elitist snob—no woman you'd want to be friends with, let alone, actually be.
