Ever since I saw photos of the Dolomites years ago, it’s been a dream of mine to visit. The turquoise coloured lakes that look as though they’re straight from Canada, the huge towering mountains, and the winding roads. Oh those winding roads. I’m not even joking when I say that I actually started to have nightmares about them on the trip! The Dolomites are a mountain range in north-east Italy, just south of Austria and with Slovenia to the east. There’s a lot of German/Austrian influence in the area, with the majority of the population in the towns most northerly located within the Dolomites speaking German rather than Italian.
