The 1830 edition of the Book of Mormon reads that king Benjamin had the gift of translate the Jaredite records. This, however, was changed in the 1837 edition of the Book of Mormon, presumably by Joseph Smith, to read that Mosiah had this gift. This apparent contradiction has caused some to puzzle over who precisely had the gift of interpretation, as well as how this error arose, or whether it is even an error to begin with.
