Urgent Part 2 - Urgent Death Row Dogs - GONE 3/24/2015 Manhattan Center My name is ASHE. My Animal ID # is A1030256. I am a male br brindle and white am pit bull ter. The shelter thinks I am about 8 MONTHS old. I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 03/13/2015 from NY 10473, owner surrender reason stated was COST. MOST RECENT MEDICAL INFORMATION AND WEIGHT 03/22/2015 Exam Type CAGE EXAM - Medical Rating is 3 C - MAJOR CONDITIONS , Behavior Rating is EXPERIENCE, Weight 58.8 LBS. SND, coughing A: Kennel cough P: Doxy 100 mg 3 tabs po sid x 10 days as per Dr. 1009 03/13/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO 03/13/15 17:01 Ashe has spent the last two days with a y year old child. He was very relaxed and affectionate with the child. He does not appear to be house trained. During the intake, Ashe solicited attention with a very loose body and wagging tail. He took treats gently from hand. He appears to know how to sit. He did not show any aggressive or stress behaviors. He allowed handling. 03/18/2015 WEB MEMO A volunteer writes: Bright eyed and bushy tailed......that's our Ashe! Found as a stray and spending two days with the person that found him, we're told that he was relaxed and friendly with their child. He's all puppy energy, playful, friendly, bouncy - just a big galoomph of a boy who's looking for a person or family to help him grow into the amazing adult dog he's destined to be. His whole body wags when he wags his tail - his energy and sense of fun, along with his huge smile is completely contagious - there is no way to be grumpy when Ashe is around - he'll make you smile and laugh, and smother you with kisses and tail wags. He loves to meet new people, everyone getting the benefit of his smile, loves to play with the ball, sits for treats and takes them gently. His love of treats will make him easy to train with positive reward based training, and he wants to make his person happy. He may be housetrained, going as soon as we were out the door, but he's a young puppy so may need his skills reinforced with regular walks. Don't miss that amazing smile and fabulous wagging tail. 03/15/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION - EXPERIENCE Exam Type BEHAVIOR Ashe was extremely excitable, and was more interested in the surroundings than the handler during the assessment. He was very easily excitable and tended to focus more on other stimuli in the room rather than the Assessor. During tag, Ashe became over excited, his body remained loose but he played tug-of-war with the leash, jumped on the Assessor, and would not calm easily. Ashe did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. He had a minimal interest in both toys and rawhide; he easily relinquished both items. Ashe was relinquished to the care center by a finder who had him in their home for a short time. The finder stated that Ashe had been in the presence of a child, in which he interacted affectionately. During the assessment Ashe demonstrated a high state of arousal in which he was not easily calmed. Although he was playful, Ashe played tug-o-war with the leash throughout the tag item and jumped on the assessor. He would likely benefit mental and physical stimulation and from being taught drop in regards to the leash. The Behavior Department believes Ashe would do best in an experienced home with no young children, do to his high state of arousal. If there are children in the home we reccomend an in-depth interaction before aoption. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently mouthing leash, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog's mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 3. Dog responds with his tail high, ears back, and jumps up on the Assessor. Dog is often focused on other stimuli in the room. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and her ears are back. Food 1.Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push her out. Toy 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, licks and mouths, then turns away. Rawhide 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, licks and mouths, then turns away. 03/16/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION - EXPERIENCE Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR When off leash with other dogs, Ashe was playful and social when interacting with a female dogs. He greeted her appropriately at the gate. Once in the pen, he is high energy and interacts well.
