M. B. C. Hickey, PhD, Research Scientist and Education Program Leader from the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences and his team. The little brown bat is becoming very rare due to a fungus called the white nose syndrome. Last evening we recorded little brown bats, hoary bats, and possibly a big brown bat. Our hope is to tag some of these bats to further our understanding of their populations. Ultrasound detectors like this one are used to identify bat species.
