St Catherine of Siena, whose feast day is today, 29 April, was the first female doctor of the Church, and proclaimed as such by Pope Paul VI in 1970. This is a stained glass image of the patroness of Europe in the convent church of the Dominican Sisters of St Catherine of Siena in Stone, Staffordshire.
