Being a stockist for Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® decorative paint...I get several questions about how to lime wash hardwood floors. So I decided to lime wash my back hallway floor. Here is a before picture of the hallway with dark stenciled walls and the stained oak floor. Before Floor To prepare the floor for paint I vacuumed and mopped. To lime wash the oak floor I mixed 1 cup Old White with 1 cup water to make the wash. I applied the wash with a small sponge roller and wiped off the excess with a cotton rag. Limed Wash Floor with Chalk Paint® I let this dry...this doesn't take long with Annie's Chalk Paint® and applied a second coat using the same technique as the first coat. Limed Washed Floor with Chalk Paint™ I want an imperfect worn look to the floor... ...like it had been walked on for years and the paint was worn off in places. Limed Washed Floor with Chalk Paint® I allowed the floor to dry about half an hour. Next I sealed the floor with Annie Sloan's Lacquer for floors. Limed Washed Floor This is the completed floor and the frechly painted walls. Limed Washed Floor Limed Washed Floor with Chalk Paint® I hope you like the finished look of the hallway and floor. The floor project took about two hours to complete and I used about 1/3 of a quart of paint. The hallway is 4' wide by 11' long.
