First Edition A relatively scarce publication Spiral bound book with pictorial card covers - 126 pages (including index) - measures approx. 7 1/2" x 9 3/4" or approx. 19 cm x 24.5 cm - illustrated with black and white photographs Just nudging into the 1950s in terms of publication date (1950) the garment styles are those of the late 1940s. Features a variety of knitting patterns for all the family - women and girls in the main, although it also includes a couple of patterns for men/boys, plus a few for babies. Garments for women include lingerie (a lacy set, a set of camiknickers or teddy, and a vest and pants set), sweaters/cardigans, a sleeveless jerkin, a sun suit/bikini and a bedjacket. Patterns for girls include cardigans, sweaters and a beach suit, Please note that (as was customary at this time) the instructions for each garment are provided in ONE size only, although the sizes vary from garment to garment. For instance, the bust measurement for the lacy undies is given as 35"-37" bust, the sun suit/bikini will fit a 32"-34" bust. A couple of small areas of rubbing/slight paper loss (e.g. corners). Slight creasing to a couple of corners. Ink annotation (previous owner's name) to title page. Several printer's ink smudges to one page (page 48) - these appear to have been present since manufacture (they impinge on the text but the text is still decipherable). Some tanning/age discolouration and light creasing to internal pages. But otherwise good. Binding is tight.
