MONKEY WITH INRÔ. IVORY. Ca. 1900. The animal is sitting in concentrated posture and studies through its glasses a pear-shaped netsuke which is hanging from a five-part inrô, which is lying on its right leg. The hair and genitals finely carved, polished and engraved. Signed on rectangular reserve. Late Osaka artist, known for his monkey netsuke, which were made for export. Height 3,5cm. Condition A.
