It’s Black History Month. And while some people seem to think it’s not necessary, I’ve written several posts (here, here and here) that confirm the very need for it even more so today. And as a mother of Afro-Caribbean (Ugandan/Rwandan-Haitian) children, I owe it more to them to make sure they understand and appreciate where they come from. As a homeschooler, I’m always looking for ways to enrich their learning and love of their history. So I wanted to take a moment to introduce a few black history month products and services you can enjoy with your little ones. Because of them we can: I first started following this movement on Instagram. The work that the founder, Eunique Jones Gibson has created to empower and excite young ones about their heritage is unparallel. From images to backpacks, to t-shirts, calendars, and posters: “Because of them, we can” has something for everyone. I can not wait to get my copy of the coffee table book.
