Why use a boring old cheap lighter when you can strike up a flame in style with these awesome matchbox covers! If you like to be old school (or you just like the superior performance of a wood match) these matchboxes are for you. Why not add style and substance to those tacky cardboard match boxes. These exactly fit a standard 32ct matchbox, leaving the strike area open for easy match-lighting. Why would I want to use wood matches? I'm glad you asked. Wood matches are just plain superior to lighters for many activities, including: Lighting Candles Lighting Incense Lighting Smudge-wands Starting Fireplace kindling Weddings Rituals Ceremonies Every day coolness Lighting Cigars Lighting Gas-stove-top burners or pilot lights Lighting certain recreational substances that are legal in some states (I'm looking at you Colorado) And many more... My matchbox cover is made of heavy 20-gauge Stainless Steel, with a striking fine pewter emblem. Handcrafted in USA. Approximately 1.5”x2”. Refillable: Fits a standard box of matches* The back is perfect for engraving! REFILLABLE: HOLDS A STANDARD BOX OF MATCHES, WITH STYLE! I engineered these Match Box Covers to fit a standard 32 count box of matches, so that you can buy replacement matches at any grocery store or convenience store. I use diamond strike anywhere matches and they work great! How to refill the matches: When you are done with one cardboard box of matches, just slide the entire cardboard box (including the sleeve with the strike area) out of the metal cover, and insert your new box of matches. Done and ready to go! ABOUT THE DESIGN Celtic knotwork patterns have been used for centuries as symbols of connection, protection, and good luck. And, let’s be honest, because they look awesome. This design is based off an older piece, Wolf Walker, from my family business Deva Designs. It was just screaming to be turned into a cool celtic knot. The Wolf symbolizes intelligence, freedom, and following your instincts. This is a deceptively simple knot incorporating a wolf's markings to create a stylized human figure in the center of the piece - Do you see the person's head, arms, and body, hidden in the design? All CelticKnotWorks pieces are proudly handcrafted in the USA. This is my original design, designed from scratch by me. I make these matchbox covers in partnership with my family business, Deva Designs. *I can't include the matches themselves, to comply with U.S. shipping regulations. My Match Boxes fit the standard small pocket-sized box of matches, that you can find in any grocery store and convenience store.
Wearable art! (By Ben) Wood engraving is a form of printmaking that originates from the ancient East, in particular, Japan. I started printing on t-shirts when I was 12, and have always been a fan of animals and Celtic knots. I have found Old Norse runes to be an amazing part of the ancient past, and think their meanings are inspiring. The Wolf I was inspired by the Old Norse myths of Fenrir, a giant wolf that was so fierce it was believed to be a challenge to the Gods themselves. Metaphorically, I think this describes the delicate balance between nature and humankind, in that nature is fierce, and we must keep our distance and respect it (especially if it has sharp teeth!). Perhaps there is a bit of Fenrir in all wolfs, and reflecting on these old stories offers a variety of interpretations. It's fun to wear art, and to don old symbols of strength on hand-printed tees. I carved these woodcuts this past Fall and recently inked 'em up and printed 'em on t-shirts. The tees are from Gildan SuperSoft – luxuriously soft and slightly fitted (true to size, pre-shrunk). Color choice: Heather blue or Heather charcoal. I will print it custom and you will be the proud owner of a fine art T-Shirt. Due to the nature of printmaking, there will be slight variations that are part of the printmaking process. The tees take a few days to dry, so please allow 5-7 days for your order to ship. Are you local to Monterey? Arrange to pick-up your order instead of shipping! Use code LOCAL in the checkout, and we will arrange pickup instead of shipping. The ink is heat-set, and normal fading will occur over time. The ink sets into the fabric (does not sit on top like a silkscreen) so it will not peel. It is recommended that you wash and dry your shirt inside out.
