In the early '70s, Mattel created a small line of toys called Farbs - toys that were basically cars as race car drivers with engines and wheels. Each character had a name based on a goofy spped/racing pun. I have no idea what motivated this - maybe it was the mainstream offspring of "Big Daddy" Roth's custom car culture. At any rate, I loved them as a kid and bought all of the characters. I was never much of a Hot Wheels kid (I was always a Matchbox boy), but these cars were different. Heck, they were more character than car, which is porbably why I liked them so much! I guess consumer America didn't agree with me, since Mattel didn't expand the line, or do anything like it ever again. Anyway, there's a bunch of them on eBay these days - starting bids range anywhere from $1.00 for a loose (unpackaged) toy to $150.00 for this very character, mint on card.
