Sometimes students have BIG FEELINGS and they need some help to self-regulate. This resource promotes self-advocacy to help students communicate their needs and implement coping skills. This communication tool is perfect for a special education classroom, school counselors, speech-language pathologists, or an elementary or preschool classroom. Includes over 100 visuals focusing on emotions, sensory strategies, hygiene items, and other needs. It also includes communication boards that can be used as part of a bound book, file folder, or on students' desks. The bound book and file folder options make it easy to stay organized and can easily travel with students as they transition. This zipped file also includes a completely editable version to create your own visuals! Please be sure you have PowerPoint on your computer to edit the file. Learn more by checking out the previews! To use this communication tool... First, choose what sized icons you want to use. There are small, medium, and large. Measurements are listed above. Print the icons that you need. You may want to print everything or just certain pages. I would recommend narrowing down the coping skills so students are not too overwhelmed. You can gradually add more as they are taught. Next, decide how you want to organize the icons. I have used a file folder or put the icons in a printable bound or stapled book so students can easily access and view all of the icons. Options and instructions for both choices are included in the file. You may want to use the cover of the file folder or book for students to communicate “I feel, I need.” or you can use one of the smaller options to put on student desks. There are cover options that include the board for students to communicate or a general cover. Laminate everything. Add Velcro to the back of the icons, the feeling board, and your organization system. Not seeing the icons you need? Want to relabel the choice board? Check out the editable version and make your own in this zipped file. Instructions are included on how to edit the PowerPoint version. ☆☆☆Please note, this is a Zip File.
