ABOUT THE COLLECTION: "Invisible Woman" Domestic chores have historically been considered ‘women’s work’, freeing upmen to engage in more productive jobs. Today’s women are significantly engaged in theworkforce, but household chores continue to be viewed as the woman’s responsibility. As an adult I question the invisible stereotype that women’ s jobs are not important.Growing up in a Korean-American immigrant family, both of my parents worked. Iexperienced the hardships of ‘women’s work’ firsthand as my mother worked two jobs, her domestic job out of sight, and her professional job outside the home. One day mymother revealed that she felt invisible, treated like a housekeeper in her own home. Therefore, to honor all women who have felt taken advantage of by the stereotype, Ipresent my collection, “Invisible Woman”. My hope is that my work will show a greatappreciation for women who have dedicated their entire lives to their family instead ofthemselves. I want them to realize they are beautiful women. About the Designer Alice, born and raised in Pennsylvania, is a fashion designer based in New York. She specializes in high-end womenswear and couture gowns. From a very early age, she found her niche in fine arts. She was fascinated that she could create something that never existed before, and she could give it meaning. These childhood memories led her to explore fashion design which was an outlet for her to express herself even more. Since she strongly believed “fine feathers make fine birds”, she started her education in fashion design to share her own visions for empowering others based on her experiences. In Alice Eugene Seon’s thesis capsule collection, Invisible Women, Alice applied silhouette research and draping techniques to find unique silhouettes in designs that are rooted in her personal anecdotes and experiences. Throughout the 2023 BFA Parsons Fashion Design collection, she eloquently liberates and empowers women by creating strong women figures with a sense of humor infused in her collection. She will continue her education and personal studies in fashion design that empowers women as a fashion designer.
