Lisa, look what we're going to cook today. I'm going to tell you what this is. So you'll know. I cooked these quite a bit. And this I got this yesterday at the grocery store and it was on special. Let me tell you what it's called. Let me pull it off here so you can see it. It's called country style ribs. And they were a and 68 cents a pound. Like that. And let me tell you what a country style rib is. Actually a country style rib. All it is is a Boston butt cut up. And it's got the bone in it. So in other words here is a here is a one of the what they call the rib. A little pork steak or rib or whatever. This one doesn't have a bone in it. But all this is is just a Boston butt. So I'm going to put it in my pan this morning. And we are going to cook this on 400 degrees. Now that fat that's on there. I fixed to cut that off. Because it's too much and I don't want it on there. I'm go we're going to make some I'm going to make barbecue out of this today. So I'm just going to cut this off. This knife was sent to me yesterday. It sure is a nice sharp knife. Thank y'all so much. I just got it. Alright. Put this one in. This one's got a tidy little bone. See that little tiny bone right there and right there so some of them will have a bone in it and some of them will not. But this is a good bath. Just going to lay it in my pan. We're not going to put anything on it now. We're just going to cook it plain because we're going to put barbecue sauce on it when it comes out. And I'll show you how to do that if I get a chance. This morning. Listen. Last night I went to a something that was so wonderful and so moving. I'mma cut this one in half. It was a Crossover Ministries Banquet. And what that means is These are people that have had some problems with drugs or alcohol or whatever. And they go to a I I guess you say they go to get help. And they graduated last night. And y'all those guys got up there and sang. We had it at a church. And they got up there as a group and sang. And they were magnificent. They they were so good. I enjoyed it so much. I was moved. The sermon was good. Everything was good. I'm so proud of them for going through this program and getting help. Uh Alright, look what a pile of meat. Look at that. I am going to put just a fraction of water in it. That's so that you don't have something to kind of moisten it up in there. Let me rinse my hands off. Come over here and y'all can watch me wash my hands. Got me some good almond soap this morning that I'm washing my hands with. I've been washing my face with it last night. I it does so good. Imma have to call them and see who won that. We're going to see who won that basket last week. I want to know which one of you won it. I'm I'm excited. Where's the rag? Here it is up here. Anyway, so we're going to pop this in the oven and I'm going to put just a tan of water in it and I'm going to put a top on it. I'm talking about something easy to fix. When it when we get it done, we will take forks and shred it up and make us some barbecue and come on over this way and I'm going to show you what we're going to do next. Put this in the oven first. Oh I'm going to put a little bit of foil over our top. I'll just put this top right here. That'll work good. I've got it on 400 degrees. Right now it's still preheating. Okay right here what I'm going to have to go with my barbecue sauce is I like warm potato salad. So what I've done is I've cut up a bunch of potatoes in here in little cubes. And I've got me five eggs in there. And we're going to boil those at the same time. I'm going to go ahead and turn them on. Going to put some stuff in that. While our meat is cooking and while our potatoes are fixing to boil, I am going to bake us some baked beans to go with it. What I've got in here is just one large can of pork and beans. One large can of pork and beans and to that, I'm going to start adding. What I like to add with mine is of course, an onion. Y'all know how I love onions. I do. I love em. Last night after we went to the program for Crossover. We ran out and got us a bite to eat. And the banks wanted to eat at the Chinese. So we ate Chinese last night. It was delicious. I got the beef and broccoli. It's what I got and it was so good. We also went to a fundraiser for a lady in our community that has cancer. We had a silent auction and other things to try to raise money to help with her and that that went well. I had fixed a basket off up for them to auction off. I hope it brought a lot for Had all kinds of goodies in it. I put her all kinds of things. I put the butt, the basket, all kinds of things in it this morning. I feel kind of melancholy this morning. I guess it's the weather. It's just been so cold you can't get out. And and that tends to make you feel kind of sleepy because you got the heater wide open trying to keep it warm and you just want to cuddle up with a blanket don't you? You kind of just sit around. But the do that. I just can't do it. I got to get stay busy. Oh I want to tell y'all this too last week. Maybe I could put up some pictures on. I don't know but I'll try to. I went to see Dallas and his family. He's got to stay quite a few little days with them. We cooked and ate and went to volleyball. I mean went to a soccer games and all that kind of stuff. But anyway while we were there they had tornadoes. In Tuscaloosa. And so when the all of our phones rang off reminding us we better take cover and this that and the other. Well we have started throwing pillows in the hallway and Dallas and Um and all went and got everybody a helmet to put on. He's got his own motorcycle so he Izzy was wearing his helmet. I he's a police officer so I had on a police officer's helmet. He did too. And William had on a football helmet. And so because you know was trying to protect her head just in case. That's for sure. But anyway we looked so funny. And of course we picture. Of us with all of our helmets on. What am I looking for? I'm looking for my spatula. That's what I'm looking for. Anyway, oh and something else I want to tell y'all. See how I'm just putting these onions in there? Something else I want to tell y'all is this. Last night at the crossover graduation, I guess you call it. Um there was this man there that I met and he went to a different church in a different town and he said that they had a chili cook off. And he had never made chili in his life but that he decided he was going to do that cook off. So he just turned on my video where I made the chili and he made my chili. And and He said it was so good. He ate he won the chili cook off. So I thought man that that's wonderful. Alright so what I'm going to do now is cut up. I've got a onion in there. My pork and beans. I'm going to cut up the bell pepper. This is going to be good y'all. Um it really is. I love baked beans fixed like this. You you know when you just buy baked beans in the store. Well honey they need doctoring up. Y'all know what doctoring up means. It means putting other stuff in it. That's what it actually means. And so I'm doctoring mine up this morning. That's what I'm doing. You know I got a letter this week from a follower or she was a follower. And she just or he or whoever it was, they didn't really sign it but it was such a ugly little letter that they wrote. They fussed at me about this and fussed at me about that and got on to me about this and got on to me about that and I'm thinking bless their heart. They're so sour and sad and down on people. Down in people. Ain't that a terrible thing? She he or she or whoever wrote it, they need prayer. They need to have a a heart fix it. To have a tender hearted. To be humble. And to look over some things and stuff like that. So you know sometimes we just have to pray don't we? For those who who have attitudes like that. We can't change them. But God can. God can change them. That's for sure. Alright here. I only used a half of bell pepper. Those things were huge. I think that thing was that big round. I didn't need a whole bell pepper. Alright so we're going to put the bell pepper in. It's already looking good in it. I just got that can of pork and beans. It's about that tall. It's bigger than a soup can. About that big round. Kind of a tall skinny can. That's what I got. But now I'm going to add start adding some brown sugar. And you say how much? Well I have no idea. I'm going to add two big spoonfuls and I'm going to taste it. And now I'm going to add some barbecue sauce in mine. I can get the top off of it. There we go. Whatever kind of barbecue sauce you like is add you some in there. Cuz see what I did is I drained these beans. When I opened them, you know how it has that juice in it and all like that. I drained them in my colander. I don't want that juice. I want all these other good juices. The onion will make juice and so will the the well the barbecue sauce and then you know you've got the powder the brown sugar in it and that's going to kind of melt up. You can put your little squeeze of mustard in it. That's real good. Just jocker them up like this and we're going to put it in a casserole dish and slow cook it while our meat's cooking. And my potatoes. Y'all know I didn't even turn that my potatoes on. I got them over there and y'all got me so in a tither I didn't even turn them on. But there I am now. I just have to see it. That doesn't look quite soupy enough so I'm going to put a little bit more barbecue sauce in there. Like that. Okay, that looks good. Let me see if I've got any mustard. I don't I may not even have any. Let me look at this. See what I have got. Got some honey. That would be good in it, wouldn't it? Here's some mustard. Let me shake it up real good. I remember one time I was teaching school and we I let the children paint with the and they had big jars of paint like that those temper paints we were painting pictures well I thought that the thing needed shake it up so I just got that paint and I did like that to shake it up and that top was not only good and paint went all over me and the children and the floor we just laughed it off I'm going to put about a tablespoon that all I'm going to put. That gives a little wing. Y'all ever heard that word wing? Well that gives a little wing. Alright now that's all you need. Now some people like to put meat in theirs but I I don't like the I don't like it in it. I like this plain old baked beans like this. Alright let me taste a little bit. Let me get me a little pudding here. And we're going to just taste it. I've got of course the onions and all are raw but you're just looking for the flavor. Mm mm. That's delicious. Now, that brown sugar in it and that barbecue sauce, honey. You can't beat that. Let me see what I've got. I'll cook it in this right here. Just to be just perfect. Just put it in a little casserole dish. We're going to cover it with some oil. And we're going to have some good baked beans to go with our barbecue. Okay? I had so much cover on my bed last night. I don't even think I could turn over. Alright, just slide that right in there with our meat. How easy was that? Now, we're going to wait on our potatoes to start boiling and we'll make us a potato salad. While our potatoes are boiling, let's go ahead. Imma cut up two ribs of celery to go in my potatoes and y'all I didn't tell you how many potatoes I did but I did eight. Eight or nine is what I did and so I'm just going to we're going to I love a little celery in my potato salad. See all the strings this one's got on it. Already washed it good. I like celery and soup because of the flavor that it gives out. I like it in salads. My mama used to fix it at Thanksgiving time when she'd be doing something with cream cheese and she'd always have celery because we put it in our dressing. And she would take a a piece and and stuff the inside like this right here. She'd stuff it with cream cheese and pecans and that kind of stuff and it taste so good. We just snack on that while she's waiting to get Thanksgiving dinner all done and ready. That's what she would do. I want to thank all of you for watching. Uh I am so excited. I I see that you are you're just great with your biscuits. Y'all are making fried pies. You're making dumplings. You're making beautiful cakes. I'm just y'all are in the kitchen and doing and I know your family's tickled to death, aren't they? As I used to say, tickle pink. Tickle pink. Tickle pink. I like to just cut mine skinny like this and then then it doesn't take so long to chop them up. I had a friend over here one time. She was cutting one thing at a time like this. And I thought oh my gosh that's going to take you all day trial. Just cut it long skinnies like that. Let me cut this. Let me let's do let's string this one. A little bit. Get it nice and done. The sun is coming up. It's a beautiful beautiful day outside. But it's cold as a wedge out there. Or to me it is. For the south it is. It's cold. You people in the north this is like summertime for y'all. I had somebody to come the other day from Ohio to the bidding breakfast. And they had on shorts and sandals. And I had on sweater. And I said oh my gosh I gotta freeze to death. They said no this is this is warm weather compared to what we've been in. So it didn't bother the the cold down here doesn't bother them because they're so used to it. But I'm not. Okay. Let me cut this one one more time. He looks kind of like he's fat. Alright, so what you do after I get it cut like that. Yeah, I've seen this a million times. I cut it in half. Bring that half up here with this and before you know what you're doing. I'm going to cut mine real little. So, what we're going to have in our potato salad today is potatoes, eggs, celery, pickle relish not pickle. Uh it's a sweet pickle relish not picklets. Picolettes are too big. Mayonnaise. I say mayonnaise. I did. And they sour and that's it. Salt and pepper to taste. We're going to eat it at room temperature which I call warm potato salad. You can put a little mustard in your potato salad along with your mayonnaise if you want to. And just keep putting mayonnaise in there till it it looks like it's nice and creamy. Okay? That's what you going to do. Got me a big bowl to put it in. Isn't that pretty? I can smell our meat cooking. Smells so good. Gonna have a good little dinner. I didn't buy any bread. Everybody says, well, I'm not we don't need any bread. We got so much stuff here to eat but I might do us a little garlic toast or something to go with it. Okay. Be back in a bit. Alright, our potatoes are done and our egg So we're going to bring these right over here. And I am going to take my eggs out of my pan here. Somebody asked me one day. They said Brenda I can't believe that you cook your eggs and with your potatoes. Well my answer to that is why not? Why not? Kill two birds with one stump. I'm going to put some cold water over. And I'm going to drain my potatoes here with colander put them back over here and let them do some training while and we're going to cut up our eggs, okay? Y'all come over here with me. We're going to cut up our eggs. Let me put a little bit more cold water over. Now then. Now then we gotta go with I hadn't been getting any homegrown eggs lately. Yard eggs I call. Remember to always get your little water in a bowl that helps to wet that membrane. It helps it come off so much easier. See how easy it is. There's one A. I just crack mine all over. Kinda do that with my thumb. Get it working up good. I like just to eat boiled eggs. I put salt and pepper on mine. My granddaughter Isabella, she puts hot sauce on hers. She'll take a egg and just coat it in hot sauce. She loves hot sauce. And they say it's good for you. It's got that capsaicin in it. Makes your metabolism get going. Probably helps you lose weight. She's as little as a she's a little thing. Little thing. Not big like her big mama. Yesterday when I went to the grocery store when I went by the noodles and the macaroni and all that kind of stuff like that. It was about gone. They didn't have hardly any. I can't how come we hadn't got egg noodles in the grocery store? I want to know that. I guess I'm going to have to make some for my followers. Since I can't buy em already made, Now, this one, he won't stick a little bit. Let me get up under that membrane. There we go. Once you get up under that little thin, thin membrane, you got it going then. I got my power bill this week and it had doubled from what it had last week. I guess because I've been running my hair too much. I'm going to have to turn that thing down. Put more clothes on. That's ridiculous how much it was. It was so high. I've been running it too much. Matter of fact, it's running full blast right now. We'll have to turn it down. I've got it set on seventy. That's and I can't do that. I cannot do that. I'm going to have to sit it maybe on 65 or something. Maybe that'll help a little bit. Alright. Let me move that out of the way. Alright, I've got my celery in here in my bowl and I'm just going to cut these eggs up in it. Just any old way you want to cut em. It doesn't matter. We're going to eat them anyway, aren't we? Hi Okay? Y'all remember your mama fixing potato salad on the 4th of July? My daddy would get out there in the yard and barbecue and what he would do is he'd sit out there all day long with that thing. He'd put on a bunch of Boston Butts. Three or four of them on his smoker grill thing. Keep keep the wood in there. Oh this thing's hot. To burn my finger off. And he'd sit out there in his lawn chair, drink his and just have the best time. Alright, now we're going to put our potatoes in. They drain real good. I'm just going to make a big old bowl. We're going to put some pickled relish in it. About like that. We're going to put some mayo in it. We'll just put a little bit to start with and we'll see how creamy it is. Let's put a little salt and pepper. I did salt my potatoes a little bit while they were cooking. But I didn't put very much on it so I'm just going to put just a tad of salt. I don't want to put too much. Put some pepper. Sometimes I put onions in it but I'm not doing it today. You can put whatever you want to in it. Just whatever you feel like you want. Well, that's what you could put. I'm going to try to more or less toss this because I don't want to just tear my potatoes up. Okay? I'm just going to toss it gently. Boy that looks good. Don't that look good y'all? I'm hungry already. I might not can wait till lunch time. Just go all the way down the bottom and pull all that celery and pickles and all that stuff up. Well, I think that looks like a plenty of mayonnaise. What do y'all think? I think that looks good. Now you can put a little mustard in it if you want to. Lot of people like a little mustard in there. I've done that also. You can put some lambs in there. You can put whatever you want to. Okay, now we're going to taste it and see if it's got enough salt and pepper. And all that good stuff. Mm mm. At least a little bit more. Okay? I think that's it. We'll clean up the sides a little bit. With a paper towel Brown's made a big fat mess. Now then, we've got our potato salad ready. Warm potato salad. Looks good. We'll wait on our meat and our beans. Okay, the beans are done. I want you to see these. They look good, don't they? They're creamy, not dried out, Got your peppers and your onions in it. I'm going to cover it up because we get ready to eat it. Keep it nice and warm. Let's taste them. See how they taste. Y'all like baked beans? Have you been just buying them in the can and not doing anything to em because it says baked beans. I'll put you some brown sugar and a little mustard or peppers, whatever you got, little onions. Mwah. It makes it taste good y'all. Makes it taste good. That barbecue salt's in it. I won't even be hungry for lunch. I'm already I'm tasting so much in front of y'all the time it gets ready. I won't even be hungry. Anyway, we'll wait on our meat now. I don't know if our meat's done. I thought I'd take it out and you and I can check it together. It's been on a while, probably an hour and a half or two hours or something like that. Let's can you see it pretty good? Nope there. Oh yeah. Thank you Ken. Let's see. Alright it's pulling away from the bone. That's a good sign. See that bone in there? See how it's pulling away from it? Easily. This this barely touch it. Look at there. So that's a sign that hey. It's done. It's pulling away from the bone. I cooked it on 400 until it did this which I didn't time it so I don't really know how long it was. That piece seems good and tender. Imma let it just tender up now here in the pan. I'm not going to take it out. And then Imma just kind of shred it with my fork later. Look at that how good that looks. And all that good broth that's down there in it where I put that water. That will make some great dumplings maybe another day. You people out there are just like me. We're going to have to learn something. Save a penny when we can. Use what we've got. Uh make something out of it. Don't be pouring it out. Imma put the top back on here because I don't want to get cold. It's not lunch time yet. It's not dinner time because today's Sunday and we're going to eat after church. Hope y'all have a great day. That was all I was going to cook today is potato salad, baked beans, and barbecue. I am going to us a little tea to drink and I've got the table set and so everything's ready.
