First/Then boards or Now/Then boards are visuals used to help our students complete explicit tasks that we’d like them to finish. This approach displays two or more pictures. The "first" is usually a picture of a non-preferred activity or something you’d like them to complete “now” and the "then" is a picture of a preferred activity or an incentive they would like after they complete the first activity or task. The student must complete the first before earning the second activity.
