This is the pattern for a pictorial herringbone quilt. It is my modern interpretation of the American flag. It is made exclusively of strips of fabric that are sewn together in a herringbone pattern. Most of the strips are of a single fabric, but many are pieced. As a big fan of scrappy quilts, I used a couple dozen red fabrics to make the red stripes on the flag, a couple dozen white fabrics to make the white stripes and "stars" and a couple dozen blue fabrics to make the blue portion of the flag. The pattern contains detailed, color-coded diagrams to make the quilt top in sections as well as instructions on how to sew the sections together to into the final quilt top. This pattern is 14 pages -- a color cover, then five pages of B&W instructions and then 8 color pages of diagrams & charts showing fabric placement, a count of all pieces needed and the final layout. The quilt finishes at approximately 28" x 44". In this listing, I've provided a photo of an actual American flag for visual reference. Please know that this is a pattern on how to make this quilt. This is not a kit nor a finished quilt, but a digital file (pdf) of instructions (with diagrams & pattern pieces) on how to make a quilt that looks like this one. Of course the look of the quilt will vary given the fabrics you already own or can obtain.
