This ornate white earthenware teapot was made by W. T. Copeland & Sons, who owned the Spode factory in Stoke, Staffordshire, England from c.1847 to 1970. The teapot is a curved circle flat on both sides with a heavily molded oriental theme of bamboo and birds. It has a raised oval, 13-hole strainer and a molded bamboo handle. It is a cream color with the design molding all hand painted with minute detail to the birds. There is gilding to some of the bamboo leaves and stalks. It is impressed “COPELAND” over “24” and has a registered mark for January 21, 1874. It also has a red pattern no. E 9660. It is 6½” tall, 3” side to side and 9” spout to handle.
