Después de estudiar en el Instituto Noruego de Tecnología (NTH), Arne Korsmo (1900-1968) inicia su trayectoria arquitectónica colaborando con los despachos de arquitectos como Finn Bryn (1890-1975) y Johan Ellefsen (1885-1969), durante 1927, o Arnstein Arneberg (1882-1961) y Magnus Poulsson (1881-1958), en 1928, cuya obra más destacada fue el Ayuntamiento de Oslo (1916-1950). Tras un viaje por Europa, donde entra en contacto con la obra de Dudok, Le Corbusier o Mendelsohn, entre otros, abre su propio estudio asociado con Sverre Aasland (1899-1990).
