The twin Cornish villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, which are on the eastern side of the Rame Peninsula, sit right on the edge of Plymouth Sound. This makes them very susceptible to storm damage, and Kingsand suffered particularly badly in the winter gales of 2014. The area has numerous forts dating from the Napoleonic era through to the middle of the 19th century, and one can be seen on the left of the picture. This sits above the village of Cawsand, and has been converted into apartments.
