Locals often refer to August as "fogust" because of the ever present fog that blankets these coastal redwoods. However, as I was hiking through this quiet redwood forest with muted light, the sun suddenly found a hole in the fog and shone through briefly right above me. It was as if the sunlight was filtering through a stained glass window in a large cathedral giving a yellow-orange ethereal light. I quickly set up my tripod and took this 1/2 second exposure and then the light was gone.
