The trolleybuses have left the back of the Astoria, turned left into Isledon Road and are waiting to turn right into Seven Sisters Road. They will then continue on to their destination at North Finchley, via Manor House, Haringey, Turnpike Lane, Wood Green, Bounds Green, New Southgate, Friern Barnet Road and Woodhouse Road. Bringing up the rear is a routemaster on route 253 to Aldgate which replaced trolley route 653, seen in a picture a little further on in this set. It indicates that this view was taken in 1960 or 61 when the trolleybus system was getting ever nearer to complete closure. The canopy of the Astoria Cinema can just be seen on the far right and in about 18 months or so, The Beatles will be performing their Christmas show here for 10 nights. Photo by Fred Ivey.
