When your alarm goes off a second time, it wakes you up in the middle of REM instead of at the end of REM. As a result, you end up feeling foggy and disoriented. Not exactly the best way to start your day wouldn't you agree ? Here is what to do to break this unproductive habit: 1- Create a ROUTINE ! Go to bed and get up at the same time each day, including weekends. By going to bed and waking up at similar times each day and night, your body will get used to a rhythm helping you fall asleep and wake up each day and night" 2- Put your alarm OUT OF REACH ! and straight away get DOING something like drink some water, make your bed, boil water, get into the shower...whatever keep you busy Simply by having to get up, cross the room, and turn the alarm off sometimes wakes us up enough that we do not want to go back to sleep 3- Do it for 3 consecutive days If you want to continue a positive habit, make sure you don't skip it for three days straight, because if you let it lapse it's hard to start again.
