Photographs invited depicting the British Police Service since the Metropolitan Police (London) was formed in 1829 by Sir Robert Peel. Pictures of all police forces in the UK will be considered. The group's intentions are clear, It intends to provide a varied historical pictorial history of the UK's excellent Police Service since 1829. The group's guidelines are stringent for a reason and will be applied by the hosts appropriately, particularly when dealing with submitted pictures of police vehicles. Any pictures of vehicles will not be looked upon favourably by the hosts, however, they will not be dismissed out of hand. ABSOLUTELY NO PICTURES OF MODERN POLICE VEHICLES, CARS, VANS, MOTORCYCLES, HELICOPTERS AS THE MAIN SUBJECT WILL BE ACCEPTED. (Appropriate pictures of historical or relative police vehicles as the main subject will be considered by our hosts) NO EXCESSIVE 'DEMONSTRATION' PICTURES, NO EXCESSIVE PICTURES DEPICTING ARMOURY HELD BY THE BRITISH POLICE. NO EXCESSIVE PICTURES OF POLICE BADGES & MEMOROBILLIA, PICTURES IN THESE CATEGORIES WILL BE CONSIDERED INDIVIDUALLY FOR INCLUSION. PICTURES MUST HAVE AN 'EDGE', 'SLANT' 'POINT' OR HISTORICAL MEANING. ENDLESS PICTURES OF OFFICERS ON PATROL OR SIMILAR WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The group will cover all UK police forces from 1829 to the present day. Apologies for such strict guidelines regarding vehicles but we feel that pictures of hundreds of police vehicles are, in the end, meaningless, and really tell us very little about the story behind the history of the British Police Service as a whole.
