Il campanile si erge dalle acque del bacino artificiale del lago di Resia. La torre del campanile risale al XIV sec. ed è l'unico ricordo che rimane dei paesi di Curon, Resia e San Valentino, i quali sono stati distrutti per la costruzione dell'enorme diga artificiale nell'anno 1950.
