The Brandhorst-Museum was opened in Munich on May 21st 2009. It displays about 200 exhibits from collection of modern art of the heirs of the Henkel trust Udo and Anette Brandhorst. In 2009 the Brandhorst Collection comprises more than 700 works. The building with its long, two-storey, rectangular structure and multi-coloured facade composed of 36,000 vertical ceramic louvres in 23 different coloured glazes, has been created by the architects of Sauerbruch Hutton next to the Pinakothek der Moderne in the Kunstareal. The building has three exhibition areas which are connected by stairs. The museum displays a comprehensive selection of about 100 works of Andy Warhol (Hammer and sickle, 1976, The Last Supper, 1986) and more than 60 works of Cy Twombly. www.museum-brandhorst.de/ Das Museum Brandhorst ist ein Museum in München-Maxvorstadt, dessen Eröffnung mit einem Staatsakt am 18. Mai 2009 erfolgte. Für das allgemeine Publikum ist das Museum seit dem 21. Mai 2009 geöffnet. Das Gebäude befindet sich nördlich im Anschluss an das Türkentor und die Pinakothek der Moderne. Präsentiert wird die Sammlung moderner Kunst des Henkel-Erben Udo Brandhorst und dessen verstorbener Frau Anette Brandhorst. Nach Plänen des Architektenbüros Sauerbruch Hutton ist ein Gebäude mit 3200 m² Ausstellungsfläche entstanden. Schwerpunkte der Sammlung bilden Werke der klassischen Moderne sowie Werke von Künstlern, die die Kunst seit 1945 entscheidend beeinflusst haben. Unter anderem werden Arbeiten von Joseph Beuys, Damien Hirst, Sigmar Polke, Andy Warhol und Cy Twombly gezeigt, wobei Twombly eine ganze Etage des Hauses eingeräumt ist.
