VL45 Radiohus pendant light by Vilhelm Lauritzen for Louis Poulsen. Architect Vilhelm Lauritzen originally designed the VL45 light for the Danish broadcasting company's headquarters building in Copenhagen, known as the Radiohuset (now home to the Royal Danish Academy of Music). This simple, functional and elegant design was originally manufactured by Louis Poulsen, becoming its most popular design when it was first released eight decades ago.  Now reissued to the original specification, it endures as a quietly elegant response to Lauritzen’s exacting design brief: “it had to be easy to dust, it must not allow dirt to collect at the bottom or shatter instantly if it was knocked, it had to be easy to replace the bulb and dazzle as little as possible (in any position). Finally, it had to be able to serve as a downlight as required. Oh, and it had to look neat.” The shade is designed to cast a uniform and gently diffused light. Downwards directed light is produced from the opening at the base of the shade. Available in three sizes: 17.5cm, 25cm and 37cm diameter. Quickship available for the small finish only.
